Another slight difference is the brush head that comes provided. Both models will come supplied with 1 brush head as standard. The 3D white head is designed to help polish stains on the exterior of the teeth and make the teeth appear whiter, whilst the Sensi UltraThin is a softer bristled head that pairs well with the Sensitive cleaning mode available on the Pro 2 2000. You too get a visible pressure sensor, but this now lights up not only red to alert you when you brush too hard, but green too, to show you are using just the right amount of pressure. Both brushes come supplied with 1 brush head in the box. Most of the time this is a CrossAction brush head with either model. However, the Pro 2 2000 may come supplied with a 3D White or Sensi UltraThin brush head.

Hopefully, this gives you a good overview of where various brushes fit in in terms of price and features, but if not please leave a comment or question. It does not mean the brush will actually clean the teeth better. In fact, both have the same motor inside and the same cleaning modes. It’s a bit of a hassle as you need to stand almost perfectly still in front of your camera and a smartphone holder like this is not what most of us want in a bathroom. A big improvement, it means you can go between charges for longer and works better for those who travel and are away from power. The Smart 6 travel case is better than some of the cheaper models. It is a white colour and is fairly robust. The Oral-B Pro 3000 have these two cleaning modes and an additional one which is sensitive. Although cleaning modes are in the most part irrelevant, the sensitive mode works by reducing the power of the electric toothbrush from 8,800 oscillations and 40,000 pulsations down to 6,500 oscillations and 30,000 pulsations. This can be particularly useful for people with sensitive teeth especially when used in conjunction with the sensitive brush head. The Oral-B Pro 3000 also comes with another extra brush head which is a nice addition. After 2 minutes the alert changes slightly to tell you that you have brushed for long enough. Unlike some brushes, the Pro 2 doesn’t power off automatically. This may be a disappointment to some, but it’s not a big issue. So, both models come with a place to store brush heads, but the compartment with the 9000 is better than the stand offered with the Smart 6. The next big difference is the battery life. The Pro 2 2000 has over twice the usage time. The Pro 600 will operate for 28 minutes, which is 7 days of cleaning based on one user. However the Pro 2 will last for 66 minutes which is 16 days of usage time.

The reality is, you could use any mode on the brush to clean your tongue just ending the clean sooner. Although the speed and number of oscillations will be different. If the decision was on price alone, then the Pro 2 2900 would be our overall choice, because although it is more expensive to buy, when you factor in that for the higher price you get 2 brush handles, it actually works out better value per handle. Despite the Pro 1000 not being a brush for the UK market, we have received requests for a comparison between these two models hence this article.

1) Features: Oral-B Pro 2000 vs 3000 vs 2500

What I add on to this is, it is easier to clean properly with an electric toothbrush that oscillates 8,800 per minute and pulsates 40,000 per minute. My analogy is this, if you were trying to reach 100mph would it be easier to do it in a Ford KA or a Ferrari? You could probably do it in both, but one would be significantly easier that the other. A 2020 life-cycle analysis of electric toothbrushes found that the average brush is 11 times more impactful than a manual toothbrush. Below, is a list of models we have compared to one another, plus some that we have compared to their Sonicare equivalents. The reason for getting an electric toothbrush is that they have the ability to clean teeth more efficiently and with less effort than a manual toothbrush, and that is exactly what the Pro 2000 excels at. It has the same rate of oscillations and pulsations as the most expensive models, putting it on a par with the high-end toothbrushes in the range. I am confident that the Genius X motor is more powerful. I think the Pro 5000 you might have has something in the region of 8,800 oscillations and either 20,000 or 40,000 pulsations.

You can learn more about this mode and how it differs but reading our article, Oral-B cleaning modes explained. But, the whitening mode is often overrated. These 2 brushes fall at the lower end of the electric toothbrush range from Oral-B, but they offer most of what you need of an electric toothbrush at a good price point. The image below is a comparison chart that shows the main models available from Oral-B today, along with the features and functions each offer. The Pro 2 2000 has 2 cleaning modes (Daily Clean & Sensitive) compared to the 1 mode (Daily Clean) on the Pro 1000.This is a cycle that lasts for 20 seconds with 7300 oscillations and 30,000 pulsations and designed for as the name suggests, cleaning the tongue.
