Biography: Dr Shini Somara is passionate about making science and technology accessible to all, through a variety of media platforms. Shini now broadcasts across all areas of science (including climate change, sustainability, health, food and energy) to popularises and democratise STEM. Somara is keen to break down traditional stereotypes around STEM by celebrating the work of female and transgender engineers, engineers from different countries and of different ethnicities, and engineers with autism and dyslexia who describe how their neurodiversity has helped them in their careers; hopefully any child reading this book would feel empowered by seeing someone from a similar background to them featured. This exciting project will show young people the engineering that is all around them and that they too can be part of solving these challenges.
