Who supplies the catering for events?
Catering for your event will be provided by the acclaimed Harry’s Restaurant. They provide quality, tasty food and a varied seasonal menu. Harry’s uses locally sourced produce wherever possible and coming from a farming background, Sam (Harry’s owner) ensures that Harry’s meat comes from farms with high standards of animal welfare. On the rare occasion when Harry’s are unable to provide the catering we use other local caterers that pride themselves on their products and their ingredients.
What is the difference between the buffets?
We have a bronze, silver and gold buffet selection. Please see our sample menu’s to view the different buffets.
Can we bring in our own caterers?
We would prefer Harry's did the catering as we have a good relationship with them and the food they provide is of superb quality and flavour. However, we consider each functions requirements on an individual basis.
Can we bring our own food and drink?
We would prefer all food and drink to come from ourselves and Harry’s. We serve freshly brewed organic fair-trade coffee and tea. We also provide a good selection of fruit tea and decaffeinated coffee if required. Harry’s food is of superb quality and flavour. However we can accommodate functions bringing their own ‘nibbles’. Any alcohol MUST be purchased through Harry’s.
Does the Harry Hems Centre have a bar?
Although the Centre does not have a bar we can serve alcoholic drinks in the Centre provided they are purchased through Harry’s. Pre-ordering bottles of wine and beer is the best way of doing this.
Do you have an environmental policy?
The Harry Hems Centre is keen to reduce the environmental impact of our events. The following is a list of some of the ways we do this:
The Centre has good links to rail and bus stations and we encourage the use of public transport,
we offer in house equipment which saves on transportation,
we do not use air conditioning, although we do have several windows that open, these windows also provide natural lighting, our food is provided by Harry’s Restaurant, which serves local and organic produce,
our teas and coffees are Fair Trade, and we provide filtered water as an alternative to bottled water, our bottled water comes from a local source and the glass is recycled, we recycle any paper left over after an event, and we provide milk in a jug rather than in individual plastic containers.
The Harry Hems Centre is also listed on the Greener Events Guide.
Do you have facilities for the disabled?
As The Harry Hems Centre is a listed building, we are limited as to the changes we can make; however we do have a removable ramp for the front door, and a toilet for the disabled. We are able to arrange a small amount of parking for the disabled and, as we are situated on the ground floor, we have not had any difficulties so far. Please do let us know about any specific requirements you may have and we will meet them as best we can.
